What Do You Love About Your Rental Home?
It’s easy to get caught up in the negatives about your home in your day-to-day life. The rent is due, the house is a mess and a million other little things. But just think about your home a little more. What do you love about your rental home? It's yours even if you don't own it, so feel some pride in it.
The location
The joke goes “The three most important things in real estate are ‘location, location, location’” for a reason. Where you live is really important, for many reasons beyond just being in the same place as your job is. Whether it’s because of the things in your immediate neighborhood or the places you love to go that are a short drive away, the location is one of the main reasons to love the place you live.
The neighbors
Maybe you’re really friendly with your neighbors, or maybe you just see them out and about and don’t talk much. Either way, if you get along well with them, consider yourself lucky. Great neighbors can make an already great home that much better.
You have space
If you’ve lived in tiny homes before, you know stifling it can be. You don’t have enough space for everything and find your place getting more and more filled up with a mess. Even if it’s still messy, a larger place means it doesn’t feel as cluttered and overwhelming.
Sitting out on the porch/balcony
There’s something very calming about sitting outside, especially in the evening on a summer day. If you already take advantage of that, you know exactly how great it can be. If you don’t, spend some more time out on the porch or balcony. It may become one of the things you love that you never really thought about that much before.
You have memories here
It may be trite, but it’s true. You’ve lived in this place for a while, so you’ll have a lot of memories attached to it. Whether it’s the first time you did something or the millionth, happy memories or sad ones, they’re yours and tied to this place. It’s where you live, not just any random place.
There’s a lot to love about your home, whether it’s the grand place you’ve always wanted or a more modest, humble place.
